FRONT REACH ACCESS

If a person in a wheelchair can only access the pay telephone straight on, then the highest portion of the phone they need to access (the coin slot) can only be 48" from the ground.
In order to accomplish this installation the center of the junction box which houses the pay telephone wires should be 41" from the ground



SIDE REACH ACCESS

Side Reach Access

 

 

If a person in a wheelchair can access the pay telephone from the side, then the highest portion of the phone they need to access (the coin slot) can be no more than 54" from the ground. This is a standard height for all pay phones.
In order to accomplish this installation the center of the junction box which houses the pay telephone wires should be 47" from the ground
